Heat Seal Packaging
Heat Seal Packaging
Heat sealing packaging helps to increase the shelf-life of the food contents within. There are many benefits to this, including supporting the reduction of food waste by extending the time which products can be sold and consumed.
Many of our stock products are suitable for heat sealing. We can provide specialised packaging machinery to heat seal packs, including tabletop units for small enterprises and in-line machinery for food manufacturers.
What is Heat Seal Packaging?
When packaging is heat sealed, it is pressed closed using a hot sealing machine. In doing so, an air-tight seal is created around the edge of the pack, reducing the flow of oxygen to the food within.
This helps to increase the shelf-life of the food inside, which gives food a longer window in which to be sold and eaten, so it is therefore less likely to be wasted.
Products that support longer shelf-life can enable food production in central units, as food producers will have more time to distribute products to retail outlets. Heat seal packaging can also be transported over longer distances.
Our Heat Seal Packaging
Our sandwich packaging options include our Zest™ Heat Seal sandwich packs, heat seal square cut sandwich packs, heat seal baguette boxes, and heat seal wrap packs. We also offer heat seal sandwich packs in kraft, printed kraft, and black.
Our Zest™ heat seal products have water-based coatings and use no additional laminates or glues. This gives them a very low plastic percentage that is well within UK recycling guidelines. Our Zest™ products are also compostable.
Profile Heat Sealing
Ranges such as Stagione®, multi-food pots and souper pots can be profile sealed with film, to create packs with an extended shelf-life to preserve the contents. Film sealing also provides a tamper proof lidding solution, and a fantastic surface for brand and ingredient labelling. Alternatively, film sealing offers the option of a sleeve to maximise on-shelf impact, like our customer HUG Pet Food.
Some of our packaging machinery can offer tooling options to profile seal. This is where the heating tool cuts the film around the profile of the pot and applies heat to seal it to the rim at the same time. The roll tops on all these products give a perfect surface to form a strong seal with the film.
