2023 FPA rising star award winner, Talia Goldman, ESG Manager at Colpac, with award presenters.

Colpac is thrilled to announce that Talia Goldman our ESG Manager has been awarded the Rising Star Award by the FPA.

The FPA Rising Star Award recognises young people who have shown exceptional promise and talent in their respective fields within the Foodservice Packaging industry. It acknowledges the accomplishments of individuals who have demonstrated excellence, innovation, and commitment to their work – and who have already achieved noteworthy successes early in their careers.

Talia was nominated for driving change at Colpac and taking on an increasing amount of responsibility within the business. Starting as our CSER Officer, before progressing to Sustainability Lead, Talia was instrumental in identifying the need for a broader ESG Manager role to unify and strengthen our ESG proposition.

Since starting the role in January 2022, Talia has been delivering some ground-breaking projects for Colpac that advance the Company’s position as a sustainable packaging market leader and bring about real change. This includes creating the Company’s first consolidated ESG plan and enabling the business to calculate our carbon footprint for the first time, all with the aim of delivering a net zero strategy by the end of 2023.

“Her determination and ability to progress change internally and maintain strong connections with national and global change is a real asset to the business. Whether it be at industry events or at our site in Flitwick, she is a strong voice and excellent advocate for raising our game on sustainability, nature, and climate.”

Susie Deiana, Colpac’s HR Director

A significant achievement of her time at Colpac was her secondment to the Cabinet Office in 2021 to work as a Policy Advisor on the UK’s COP26 nature campaign. She helped shape policy on several areas including illegal deforestation, finance for nature, and business engagement.

This experience brought back into Colpac has been invaluable to ensuring the business operates at the cutting edge of policy and legislation, enabling us to minimize our impact on nature, the environment and deforestation, and maximise our social value in supply chains, compliance standards and employee wellbeing. This is further supported by her previous experience at the European Parliament in Brussels, and her recent appointment as a Trustee of Global Canopy.
