Colpac have significantly enhanced the design of its market leading Chilled Food-to Go packaging range, meeting UK and European wholesale and distributor demands, while directly competing with single use plastic salad packs. 

The re-launch comes at a time when retailers are beginning to fill their chilled cabinets with fresh summer dishes, while delis and food service operators are stocking up their salad and fruit bars. Colpac carried out extensive research with its customers to fully assess all their filling, transport, point of sale and end of life requirements for Chilled Food-to-Go packaging. Using these insights, Colpac have re-designed the range to meet these requirements, conducting extensive field testing during the process.

As well as redesigning the whole range of same day and self-seal salad packs, Colpac are including the most significant re-design of the company’s award-winning Combione® and Fuzione® packs in a decade. In addition, more products will now be available in Colpac’s Zest™ Eco-Packaging range, a mono material solution which allows the entire pack to be recycled and commercially composted as paperboard meeting the EU Directive Standard EN13432. 

Fuzione® and Combione® packs feature a unique combination of a paperboard base and rPet, anti-mist lid, which is created from up to 85% of recycled content. The innovative new lid design includes a much improved closure with the addition of corner grips, and raised profiles on all four edges that align the product perfectly for improved vertical stacking, creating superb shelf impact.

On Fuzione® the removal of the long side flanges greatly improves the ease of closure and has the added benefit of offering a greater area for custom print, branding and labelling.

The new design features will be rolled out across all three Combione® pack sizes and within Fuzione® medium and large pack sizes.

The new same day and self-seal Salad Packs now feature an over-the-edge window which is larger than the previous design, creating excellent visibility from the top and when stacked in a chiller display. A ‘push-tuck’ closing mechanism promotes secure sealing, which aids ease of closing and opening as consumers can either unlock, or tear off the top.

The new Salad Bowl has a unique, distinctive new shape and its size sits between the small and large standard salad packs. The Salad Bowl aims to provide an alternative to single-use plastic salad packs, and has been designed to sit in the palm of a consumer’s hand, making it ideal for on-the-go consumption.

The redesign and relaunch of the Chilled Food-to-Go range provides a wealth of options for any retailer in different designs and boards for all fillings.
