Colpac has ensured that it is a trusted manufacturer for food grade packaging through retaining its BRCGS AA certification for the sixth year in a row.
Colpac was praised by the auditor, for robust systems, a well-presented factory and the detail that was undertaken in relation to the latest standard changes. Additionally waste segregation was highlighted as excellent and was a visible link to the zero to landfill policy.
Changes included and applied for this audit:
P618 Position statement – Replaced all position statements released prior for Issue 6, inclusive of:
- Additional requirement for functional packaging claims.
- Allergen management control – New supplementary requirement where allergens have been identified as part of the hazard analysis and risk assessment, the routes for contamination from incoming goods to storage and dispatch shall be identified, with established documented policies for handling such materials to avoid cross contamination. Colpac have a policy and plan in place, staff are trained in its principles at induction and refresher.
Colpac achieved zero non-conformances across the two-day audit process. The BRCGS Standard for Packaging materials is viewed as a global benchmark of quality, safety, and legality for food packaging manufacture.
Important to Colpac and our customers is that the BRCGS compliance programme demonstrates continual improvement of standards. The benefits of the scheme and audit are recognised and specified by many retailers and food service organisations. Independent research carried out by the university of Birkbeck demonstrated that organisations operating to BRCGS standards improve food safety, operational efficiency, commercial growth, improved profitability, and broad-based innovation.
“We are delighted to report this result and the outcome is attributable to the hard work and efforts of all employees across the sites and recognition is most definitely due to everyone involved.,” comments Compliance & QA Manager Frances Dickman.
